Description

The Historical Museum of Shkodra began to be built in 1947 (under the name "People's Museum"), but took full shape in 1949. It was placed in the center of the city, in a monumental building of the 19th century, the values of which added "Clock Tower" attached to it. In 1953, with its further enrichment, it was reorganized and divided into several sectors. During the following years, other museums and house-museums were built, forming a museum network of 7 museum centers.
After the change of the system, with the deep reforms that were undertaken in the early 90s and as a result the houses where the museums were built were returned to their former owners, this museum network was disbanded, leaving only the Central Museum where all the objects were collected. museums of previous museum centers. The Historical Museum was transferred to the newly restored monumental residence (a typical Shkodra house named "Oso Kuka"), where it is still located today. The "Rozafa" Castle Museum also continued to function.
